Nokia: WiMAX Mobile Phones in 2008 |

At a WiMAX technology conference this morning in Boston,
representatives from Nokia told the press that consumers should expect
to see WiMAX capable mobile devices from Nokia sometime during 2008.
This news came as the company rolled out a WiMAX-enabled version of its
lightweight base station, previously used just for transmitting HSDPA
and W-CDMA third-generation cellular signals.

Italians welcome WiMax sell-off |

Italian politicians and businesses welcomed the announcement that the
government would begin selling WiMax-capable frequencies next June,
saying it was an important step toward the technological modernization
of the country.
The government announced Wednesday that the defense and communications
ministries had reached an agreement to free up radio frequencies in the
3.4 - 3.6 GHz wavebands for use in Wi-Max (Wordlwide Interoperability
for Microwave Access)

the development and integration of WiMAX and digital video broadcast
network technologies, as its mobile WiMAX chip solution provider.
Sequans is providing WiNetworks with both base station and subscriber
station chips with full PHY and MAC functionality, enabling WiNetworks
to offer its hybrid WiMAX network equipment to one-way broadcast
operators including broadcast satellite and cable operators.

Senior Analyst at Maravedis, and co-author of the report.
