Alvarion installs 1,000th WiMAX base station for Iberbanda |

Israeli vendor Alvarion has announced that it has deployed its 1,000th WiMAX base station in Spain for Iberbanda, a subsidiary of fixed line incumbent Telefonica de Espana. The deployment, using Alvarion’s BreezeMAX base station solution, operates using the 3500MHz frequency band, with Iberbanda’s
network concentrated in rural and underserved areas, and operating in regions including Castilla y Leon, Catalunya, Navarra and Andalucia. Commenting on the development, Eran Gorey, president and CEO of Alvarion, said: ‘We are pleased to be supporting Iberbanda’s commitment to enable broadband services throughout the country to bridge the digital divide.
